Kodaikanal: Rendezvous With The Blue Hills

It’s a Wonderful experience when you share your thought, your experience, and your pleasure time with friends and family and with the people of the Globe. Today I am here to share my fabulous trip to Kodaikanal district Tamilnadu We started from Bangalore, around 7 AM in the morning. I and my husband and our two friends packed our baggage and started for our weekend trip.

From Bangalore via Krishnagiri to Salem, from Salem took a right towards Dindigul, a famous historical place enriching the life of the great Tipu Sultan. Dindigul has a famous fort atop a hill that can be viewed on the way itself. If you can spare some time, then the fort is worth visiting. After Dindigul, a couple of km down, the ghat section starts to climb of approx.60-65 km up the hill to Kodaikanal. we drove all the way. On the way, we took breaks and had our breakfast, lunch.

There were times when we had stopped the car for seeing the scenic beauty of the hill when the sunlight fell down on them how it looked like. How the trees growing on the lap of the hill and how the waterfalls were adding dazzling beauty to them.

We had a wonderful experience during the drive to the top. The Last 30-35 km of the journey was amidst clouds descending on the hill. with zero visibility. The gorge on one side and the hill on the other. We could not make it out what was on which side. My husband was at the wheels and as per his intuitions, we had left our lives in his hands and sensibility. Darkness was prevailing, with the complete Kodai district covered in pitch darkness due to power failure caused by incessant rainfall & landslides. After a long journey, we reached Kodai town at around 8 PM in the evening.

                                                        Berijam Lake, Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is one of the popular hill stations in India. The nature of Kodai is what really attracts tourists, and gives pleasure to the senses. Its amazing natural beauty, the unique flowering plant 'Kurunji'(Strobilanthus Kunthanus) that last bloomed in 2004, is nature's gift to Kodaikanal. Berijam Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes of South India, spreads over an area of 24 hectares.

We stayed in the city for 2 days. One day we went out for different adjacent places worth visiting, and the other day we had boating in this lake, and most of the time spent there capturing & ravishing the beauty, in and around the lake.
